YORK illustrator, screen print artist, Bull and Hyde Family Jam bassist and event organiser Kai West has made a name for himself over the past decade from screen printing posters for bands, both in Yorkshire and globally.
From his studio in Rogues Atelier Art Studios, in Walmgate, Kai has developed a unique style, using bold colours and striking imagery to grab people’s attention, while applying traditional screen-printing methods to realise the power of contrast and shape.

His Bluebird Bakery exhibition sees Kai move away from posters. Building on previous exhibitions and intrigues, he explores Great Britain’s native ground-nesting birds, concentrating mainly those threatened on the UK Red List.
“I explores their folklores and stories as a means to learn more about our relationships with the creatures, and what this might mean in a world that’s heating up and rapidly changing, and where bird species are ever more at risk of extinction,” says Kai.
