Return north of the week: Rachel Croft and KAYE, The Crescent, York, Sunday, 7.30pm

Rachel Croft

SINGER, songwriter and guitarist Rachel Croft returns in force to her musical home ground of York as part of her UK and Europe-wide tour marking the emergence of an exciting and powerful new direction in her music.

Once a busker on York’s streets, later a fixture alongside jazz pianist Karl Mullen at The Phoenix Inn, Rachel is now based in London and has become an internationally recognised musician and multidisciplinary artist, with works featured on Netflix and BBC Two.

Rachel has performed from Europe to Central America, been honoured as Caffè Nero’s Artist of the Month and released music from Abbey Road Studios.

On support duty will be dream grunge artist KAYE, who moved from York to London in 2024. Blending  heavy, textured instrumentals with ethereal vocal melodies, her haunting, immersive songs draw inspiration from alt rock, shoegaze, indie and folk, influenced by Jeff Buckley, Daughter and Mary In The Junkyard.

KAYE has established herself on London’s live music scene, performing at the George Tavern, the Ivy House, the Finsbury, and New Cross Inn. On Sunday, she will perform a stripped-back, offering a more intimate and delicate side to her music. Box office: https://thecrescentyork.com/events/rachel-croft-5/.
